Wama Observes World Cancer Day 2026

The Wama Hospital team on 4th February 2026 as the observed the World Cancer Day 2026.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), an estimated 10.3 million died from cancer globally with lung cancer leading at 1.8 million. While the numbers look jarring, a new study recently found that 4 in every 10 cancer cases (and a significant portion of deaths) could be prevented. This means that early detections, lifestyle modifications and access to quality healthcare can save millions.

Wama Hospital joined the world in observing World Cancer Day 2026. This year’s theme, “United by Unique” focuses on the unique challenges we face with cancer and reminds us of our unity to create a world where we look beyond the disease. We wore the pink ribbons throughout the day in solidarity to raise awareness.

“At Wama Hospital, our contribution to this day is screening and early prevention and we achieve this by offering cervical cancer screening, breast exams, prostate checks and general diagnostics through our comprehensive laboratory and radiology departments,” Dr. Wango’mbe said.

Wama Hospital launched a Cancer Awareness Program providing continuous health education to the vulnerable.
